The state of Colorado is best known for the mountains that it holds. World-famous mountains wouldn’t be the same without world-famous ski resorts and the perfect winter weather. No matter where you, there will always be a mountain nearby for you to enjoy. A list of the best mountains within a close proximity to River Run are listed below.

Sunlight Mountain Resort
Sunlight Mountain Resort is located about 35 minutes from River Run, just a few miles southwest of Glenwood Springs. The resort features 650 shreddable acres and 67 trails and has pristine views of Mount Sopris and the Roaring Fork Valley. Sunlight is a favorite among the locals!

Aspen Snowmass Ski Resort
Only an hour and 15 minutes from River Run sits Aspen Snowmass Ski Resort, one of the most well known resorts on the planet. The mountain provides head-turning sights and the best powder you’ll everexperience. There are 94 trials, 3,362 acres, and multiple jumps and pipes all over the mountain. The annual Winter X Games are also held at Snowmass.

Buttermilk Ski Resort
At almost five months of open ski season, Buttermilk Ski Resort is a breathtaking powder fest. The resort provides 450 skiable acers, 44 trails, and is just over an hour away from River Run.

Aspen Highlands
Aspen Highlands is located in Aspen and is most famous for the Highland Bowl. The bowl is considered by many as the most intense skiing in the state. Out of all four mountains in Aspen, Highlands is a favorite with the locals. The mountain features 1,010 skiable acres and 84 runs.

Aspen Mountain
Aspen Mountain provides the backdrop to downtown Aspen with the runs ending in town. It features 673 acres and 76 trails and is located about an hour 20 minutes from River Run.

Powderhorn
Powderhorn Mountain Resort sits an hour away from River Run and features 63 trails and 1,600 skiable acres. The resort has a unique terrain such as groomers, bumps, glades and boulder fields. At 77 inches of snow depth, you’ll be able to go on endless runs and enjoy the winter wonderland. Powderhorn is known as the best tree skiing in Colorado.

Beaver Creek
One hour 15 minutes east of River Run is Beaver Creek Resort, just outside the town of Avon. WIth 1,800 acres of terrain and 150 trails to explore, there is nothing else like Beaver Creek.

Vail
Over 190 trials and almost 31 lifts open, Vail Ski Resort is waiting an hour and 25 minutes east of River Run. With over 5,280 skiable acres and averaging 300+ days of sunshine, Vail offers the outstanding sights of the Gore and Sawatch Mountain ranges. Along with the legendary terrain, there are back bowls and plenty of chair lifts to bring you make up the mountain in a giffy. Vail is one of the most well known ski resorts on the planet and we’re fortunate for it to be located so close to River Run.

Copper Mountain
Over 2,520 acres of skiing area, Copper Mountain is approximately an hour and 40 minutes drive from River Run. Copper has 20 lifts, 150 trails, and 2,465 skiable acres that present a variety of terrain options for skiers of all levels.

Breckenridge
Breckenridge Ski Resort is located less than two hours east of River Run and provides some of the best powder a skier could ask for. Almost 13,000 feet of elevation and 3,000 acres of terrain that anyone can use, you can play all day at one of Colorado’s most popular mountains.

Keystone
Keystone Resort is located in Summit County and is two hours and 20 minutes away from Silt. Keystone bids off three separate mountains: Dercum Mountain, North Peak and the Outback. There is also countless varieties of terrain including five different bowls with all levels of skiing. There are 128 trails and 3,148 skiable acres.

A-Basin
Famous for the extended skiing season, Arapahoe Basin Ski Area usually says open until late June, early July. Situated two hours and 20 minutes away from River Run, A-Basin has 145 trails, nine lifts, 1,428 acres.

Steamboat Ski Resort
With 170 trails, 18 lifts, and 2,965 acres, Steamboat Ski Resort is a gem of a mountain in one of Colorado’s neatest towns. There’s a lot to do in the town of Steamboat in addition to the mountain including sleigh ride dinners, horseback riding, hot springs, night skiing and more. The drive from Silt to Steamboat Springs takes approximately two hour and is well worth it.

Telluride
Telluride Mountain Resort is ranked as one of the top Ski Resortd in the County and is a quick three hour drive from River Run. With 17 lifts, 148 trails, and over 2,000 acres, Telluride is a favorite for ski and snowboard enthusiasts.
